“You don’t have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things... You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated.” - Sir Edmund Hillary

Every young person has something special to give to the world. With appropriate care and support young people can get through tough times and achieve their personal milestones.

Nikki and I are incredibly inspired by this very practical way of being able to make a meaningful difference to young people experiencing extreme difficulties. We hope you feel the same way, and you will consider making a difference by supporting ‘Climb to Inspire’ – Cheryl Bart

Mother and daughter Cheryl and Nikki Bart are ordinary people who have been motivated to use their forthcoming climb of Mount Everest to help raise awareness of, and funds for, the Climb to Inspire.

In doing so, they – and you –will create opportunities for more young people to change their world for the better – whether it’s overcoming the struggle with depression or suicidal thoughts, finding opportunities to do something about issues they care passionately about, or simply experiencing new ways to learn and grow.

The Everest ‘Climb to Inspire’ will test Cheryl and Nikki’s resilience, their coping skills, their relationship with each other, and their ability to get through some very tough times… challenges faced every day by many young people throughout Australia struggling with their own ‘Everests’.
Consider this. In an average Year 12 classroom –
– 1 person will have attempted suicide;
– 7 people will have experienced a recognised mental health difficulty;
– Of those 7, only 2 will have sought professional help.

Like us, Cheryl and Nikki believe that with appropriate care and support, every young person can get through tough times. Like us, they believe that every young person has something special to give to the world.

Inspire’s online Reach Out! program provides anonymous 24 hour support and information to help young people understand mental health issues, break through the stigma attached to seeking help, and get through tough times. Reach Out! provide opportunities for young people to connect, share their stories and support each other in a safe and positive environment.

Why the Internet? Because 90% of young people aged 18-24, and 92% of 15-17 year olds, are utilizing the Internet, and after family and friends, it’s where they turn for advice and support in difficult times.
